First Impressions: Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation - £8.99
I was on search for a new foundation to try out because all of my other ones are running low and I came across this in an advert and thought it could be quite interesting. I am pretty sceptical if it will make my skin 'better' but I'm willing to give it a go. I wear the lightest shade, '005 Light Beige', because even though I'm quite sallow skinned the darker shades were quite orangey on my skin which I definitely do not want. I'd say that the colour range is mainly designed for people with darker skin because they only have one light colour but quite a few darker ones. It turns out that the lightest colour is actually quite good on my skin too which is always a bonus.

First of all, I really quite like the packaging of this product. It has a sturdy glass bottle and a pump (hooray!). I really like the cobalt blue type colour and the metallic silver matches it perfectly.
This foundation has a SPF of 20 and it is enriched with vitamins. It claims to improve the appearance of your skin in 3 weeks but I can't really tell you if it does or doesn't because I only tried it out this morning. It's pretty high coverage and doesn't stick to dry patches on the skin. It seems to be lasting quite well and I'm pleased with my purchase. So far I'm really quite impressed with this product and I think it will probably be shown in future favourites posts.

Easy Ways That I Display My Candles

So, if you're not a candle lover then this post might not be your cup of tea. In this post I'll be sharing with you 3 of the ways that I display my candles rather than having them just sitting there (it pretties them up a bit). So here are some of the things that I use:

I got this little pot type thing the other week to put candles in out of Hobby Craft for about £3. I was unsure of what size it would fit although I was happily surprised to find out that it fitted a Yankee Candle medium size jar, which is great because it means they look nicer that just the candle because of the little heart cut out. There were various different sizes available which I liked and they just add an extra niceness to your candles. Lovely.

I got this candle holder for my Christmas so I'm afraid I can't tell you where it's from although I can tell you that you can get ones similar bird cage style in Wilkinson. This holder just makes your candles look absolutely gorgeous and I truly do love it. I really like this way of fancy candle holders because even if they aren't all that expensive, they sure look it.

Finally I have this beautiful candle holder that I got from a candle party that cost around £20. This is the most expensive method I have and the biggest but it just looks absolutely beautiful. The firework shaped pattern has glitter in the cut-outs which, when a candle is burning, cause it to sparkle and shimmer. It really is spectacular. I absolutely love this candle holder although I would say only get a more expensive holder if you really burn candles a lot. I haven't got as much use out of this as I could do.

Sorry if this post was a bit all over the place, I am not really feeling too well and my brains a bit all over the place but I wanted to do a post for you guys. Make sure you follow me on bloglovin' and twitter (links are in the top right hand corner). Emma:)

February Blues

I thought I'd do a post for you about the nail polish that I'm wearing at the moment because I thought it was too beautiful not to. I also thought that I'd start doing my nails of the week posts again because they are nice and easy posts to write and I think it's interesting to see what different nail polishes everyone is in to. Here is what I am wearing today:

Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat - £6.49

Maybelline Color Show in 'Ocean Blue' - £2.99
This nail polish was really quite nice to apply, it had a nice colour after only one coat and was probably wearable although I like to play things safe and go with two coats. I think this colour is perfect for February because it's still cold here in the UK.

Maybelline Color Show in 'Clear Shine' - £2.99

January Favourites 2014!

Well January has went past in the blink of an eye! I cannot believe that it is February already. Anyway, January brought Britain the well awaited Baby Skin and new Revlon lip crayons. How delightful! This month I haven't really been using many new products so this months favourites is a bit of a mix. So here are my January favourites:

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser - £7.99
I have to say, when I first bought this I had my doubts about the 'pore eraser' qualities that this claimed to have. Although I was strangely surprised when I gave this a try. I still wouldn't say that it erased my pores but I would definitely say that it blurred them. It made my makeup apply very smoothly and it definitely prolonged the wear of my makeup.

Dove Style+Care Dry Shampoo - £4.95
When I first tried this I really didn't like it very much. I just didn't think that it gave me the same 'oil-free' look to my hair as the Batiste dry shampoo did. Now I have to say I absolutely love it. It is completely colourless (unlike the batiste one which is white) which is great if you don't brush a bit out properly. This takes the oils out of my hair really quite well and easily which is great if I am in a hurry because it means I don't have to faff around trying to get it all sorted. This also creates a great amount of volume, so yeah I love it!

Maybelline Fit Me Anti-Shine Foundation Stick - £8.99
I have slowly drifted away from my Maybelline BB cream because a) it is too dark for me now and b) because this is so much easier and quicker to apply. I absolutely love this foundation, but I won't bore you with a big in-depth review because I've done one before here. I just find that this gives a perfect finish when paired with the baby skin primer.

Yankee Candle 'River Valley'  - found here.
I love this candle, it smells unbelievable. I have to say, I don't know if it exactly smells like a 'river valley' because I've never smelled one. My best description of this scent is that it smells like the men's body spray Lynx, which I quite like the smell of. I've been burning this literally non stop in my room over the past month.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion - £7.65
I really like this moisturiser, I think that I have spoken about it in a post before but I can't really remember to be honest. I just really like this because it dries in really quickly which is great on school mornings when I need to quickly moisturise before I apply my makeup. It just has a really good balance between being moisturising but not greasy which is great. It's just an all round good moisturiser.

Thanks for reading this blogpost, make sure you follow me on Bloglovin' if you don't already so you keep up to date on all of my blogposts.

I also have a disclaimer that I won't be able to post all that much during February because I have some really important school exams so I need to study! Emma :)
